My name is Svatopluk Jakob Geppert, and I work as a psychotherapist and supervisor in Prague, Tábor and online.

My journey

I support people through difficult life situations, helping them understand the deeper roots of their struggles and find pathways to change.

I was born in Prague in 1975. In my early twenties, I went through a severe personal crisis. That experience – and the therapy that helped me through it – showed me the power of the therapeutic process. More importantly, it gave me an understanding of what it feels like to be in the chair across from the therapist.

Education and Qualifications

At 40, I completed a four-year psychotherapy training in Transactional Analysis at Wealden College in Sussex, UK. As the only foreigner among twenty local English trainees – an experience of what it means to be the one who’s different. Five years as an expat in rural England and another four in multicultural London taught me to understand both otherness and the coexistence of diverse cultures.

In 2024, I completed a professional supervisor training at Connexus Institute, UK. I am a UK-trained therapist and UK-qualified supervisor – a qualification rare among therapists and supervisors in Prague.

Throughout my professional and personal journey, I’ve undertaken numerous additional trainings and personal development seminars – from body work to men’s groups to various therapeutic modalities. I’ve explored spiritual traditions of both East and West, practiced yoga, meditation, and martial arts. As a Christian, I remain open to other spiritual paths.

Practice

I lived and worked in Britain for ten years. From my third year of training, I volunteered as a counsellor for charities in Sussex and London. For several years, I also worked as a carer for elderly and palliative clients. This taught me about dignity, loss, and how to support people through their most difficult times – but also about the capacity to find life, hope, and deep presence even when everything seems hardest.

After qualifying, I opened a private practice in London, working both with middle-class clients in the city centre and for four years in social services in East London – with homeless people, those struggling with addiction, and individuals with schizophrenia and personality disorders.

After returning to the Czech Republic in 2022, I worked on an organic farm in the Broumov region. Working with the land and connecting with ancestral roots gave me a different dimension of understanding healing. In parallel, I taught English at a secondary school and built my therapeutic practice in Tábor and Prague.

Working with Expats

Nearly ten years of living and working in the UK gave me unique insight into expat challenges. I know what it’s like to build a life in a foreign culture, navigate between identities, and find yourself between two worlds. As both a Czech and British citizen, I understand the complexity of dual cultural belonging.

This experience allows me to deeply understand the specific struggles expats face in Prague – the isolation, cultural adjustment, identity questions, and the challenge of maintaining relationships across borders. I offer therapy in English for expats and am also well-suited to work with international companies and institutions seeking mental health support for their teams.

Integration of Transformational Experiences

My path has also included experiences with plant medicines from South America and Africa. These experiences gave me understanding of the processes many people go through, and I help clients integrate these deeply transformational experiences into everyday life.

My Approach

I believe in a holistic approach to healing – connecting body, mind, and spirit. I’m a father of two adult children. Fatherhood and relationships have taught me the most – about love, loss, forgiveness, patience, and hope.

Today, I stand before clients as someone who has been through their own crises and experienced different worlds. I believe in the power of therapy, in the possibility of transformation, and in acceptance without judgment – in respect for each person and their unique path. And I believe that transformation is possible.
